The very first African-American Prima Ballerina with a major American ballet company, Lauren Anderson danced with Houston Ballet from 1983 to 2006.
She performed leading roles in all the great classical ballets and toured the world to great acclaim.
In 2016, she was awarded a permanent exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C.
